Hutchison 3G customer numbers soar

Hong Kong-based telecommunications conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa Limited (HWL) has announced an updated current customer figure of 5.9 million for its 3 Group businesses. This represents an 81% increase on the customer figure of 3.2 million announced with HWL's interim results on 19 August 2004.

Oracle gets PeopleSoft for US$10.3b

Court case pits auto insurer against Google

In the US, a Federal judge is today hearing opening arguments in a case that pits Geico, the auto insurer, against Google. Geico sued Google in May for trademark infringement, saying that by allowing competing insurance companies to buy ads linked to searches for "Geico" and "Geico Direct", Google directs web surfers seeking Geico to its competitors' sites.
