EDC uses IP telephony network for clients' fail-safe safety net PDF  | Print |

While Telstra continues to emphasise the reliability of the PSTN, an
Australian business continuity specialist has implemented an IP telephony network at a client site for disaster recovery purposes.

Enterprise Data Corporation (EDC), has deployed an Avaya IP telephony network to provide a fail-safe safety net for clients of its disaster recovery service.  Implemented by NSC Enterprise Solutions, the purpose built stand-by facilities are powered by a next-generation IP telephony network to ensure immediate business continuity in the event of a disaster.

According to EDC, IP telephony is widely recognised as the most reliable technology solution for quickly replicating business communications environment in an emergency.

"EDC has purpose-built recovery sites, providing a valuable service to a wide variety of clients," said Frank Aue, general manager of EDC.

"Clients are under regulatory pressure to demonstrate their business can sustain a disaster. Our core business caters to fill this need with the provision of end-to-end business continuity and disaster recovery services in the event of disruption or disaster," said Aue. " We replicate a workplace or call centre environment in which business may continue as normal and provide disaster recovery services which involves the provision and support of quality IT and data services at our Sydney and Melbourne facilities."

"The Avaya solution is easily scalable providing infinite flexibility to meet a wide variety of unknown scenarios.  Maintenance is cost-effective and simple because of IPT's inherent manageability. Also, the system is easy to use, which is fundamentally important to companies looking to replicate their customer service offering within hours to minutes of any kind of disaster.  Most importantly, IP telephony is characteristically reliable and robust," said Craig Neil, chairman and founder, NSC.
