BEA describes B Digital infrastructure deal as significant win PDF  | Print |
Tuesday, 02 August 2005

Infrastructure software vendor, has won a deal to provide Perth-based full service telecommunications provider B Digital with its IT architecture platform.

The introduction of the BEA architecture will see B Digital embark on a series of projects to increase the functionality of its web systems to better service existing customers, and sell a wider range of services to new customers.

Laurence Cole, managing director, BEA Systems Australia and New Zealand said, "BEA has always had a strong presence in the telecom industry, however B Digital's decision to build its entire enterprise architecture on BEA technology is a particularly significant win for us in the Australian market. We look forward to working with B Digital to deliver new and exciting services to its customers and to achieve greater business efficiency for the organisation through a more stable and flexible architecture."

Louise Hayes, chief information officer, B Digital said, "B Digital is undergoing a significant period of growth. In preparation for our continued expansion we have invested in an architecture framework which will give us the flexibility and scalability necessary to service our customers today and over the next five-to-six years.

"The BEA toolset complements our existing technologies and provides the framework for our immediate web development needs, such as an online customer self-service system. While we could have developed this with our existing toolset, BEA provides the building blocks so that our development team can concentrate on creating business functionality rather than low-level technical components."

BEA was selected following a competitive tender and a pilot program involving the development of a production-strength, fully integrated and automated web system.

Hayes said, "BEA is based on technologies already in use at B Digital, including Java and web-based systems."
