Telecommunications systems provider Lucent Technologies has appointed Roger Derrien managing director for Australia and New Zealand, based in Sydney. Prior to assuming this role, Derrien was a leader of Lucent's UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) wireless business and was based in the UK. Derrien has more than 17 years experience in the telecommunications industry and has been deeply involved in the introduction of Lucent's spread spectrum systems, as well as leading Lucent's intelligent network business.   Derrien also held a position supporting international business development efforts for mobility solutions, including three years as the leader of business development in Asia Pacific.
